My cat confronted   a raccoon out back,
hissed and glowered   (behind glass doors).
We appreciate it,   proud calico--
firm defender   and fifteen-years friend!

An Inheritance
One of our wisest   is gone to Google,
and left me a pile   of C++.
const foo( *crap ) const;   and no frakking comments.

As Long as you're not Sleepy, Kid, We Might as Well Watch Trains
A night like summer   in November
finds us fanning   in Millbrae at midnight;
caffeinated father   and insomniac son.
Friendly waves   we trade with traincrews;
a blue-striped BART's   lady operator,
and a yellow U.P.'s   freight engineer.

Untarped
I tarped my trusty     two-wheeler
to rest un-rusting     two nights in November.
This morning's clear,     cold and crisp.
Bike a mile,     my back feels better.

Drove to Work
No time to race     to train for a ride;
so minivan     to Mountain View.
The 101     jammed and weary.
My morning commute     neither principled nor punctual--
and morning meeting     cancelled, so moot.
